I have had to slide a lady finger under each side of the egr valve to slide it out. I have seen a couple here lately running like u say that had the orings burnt up on egr valve. Might pay close attention to that as well
Get 2 long flat screwdrivers or pry bars. Stick one under each side of the egr valve and pry up by wiggling, left, right, left, right. It will take some effort before it pops loose.
As for rough running at start-up, more than likely injector stiction. If your ficm checks out, lean towards stiction.

Got batteries load tested at autozone by inexperienced worker. Tested good.
Drove 1/8th mile to Advance Auto and got them tested again. Both bad.
609 & 627 CCA.
Guess I'll be replacing this weekend when I go back at the egr valve with a pry bar.
Stopped at dealer. Service manager said she did not have access to the Oasis screen but did run a warranty report. She said she would have had a tech run the Oasis but they were short handed today.
Other than normal recalls, the roof was repainted(po), had #8 injector replaced(po), & crank sensor replaced (dealers attempt at fixing my oil leak). I had the ICP sensor & harness replaced last year after warranty expired.
