overheat???
I have a 89 f350 7.3 IDI I just bought about three weeks ago. The truck has been running great till the other night i stopped at my buddys house shut it off. about two hours later I fired it up let it idle about 20 minutes and it blew all the coolant out of the over flow.Only thing that seems strange to me is the fan stays locked in the clutch fan. Would this cause this being its keeping it cool??

Do you mean that the overflow contained filled up? Does it have a water temperature guage?
The cap is supposed to hold a certain pressure, overflow into the bottle when needed and suck it back as it cools down. The cap might just be doing it's job.
I "think" that the fan is locked at idle and free wheels around 35mph.

Try a new good quality radiator cap then.
