My F350 KR is out of warranty by age (07-2010) but I have 23,101 miles on it. The upper radiator hose is leaking also. Did Ford replace yours under warranty or charge you for it. They told me about $300.00 and THIS IS NORMAL maintenance at this mileage. I've had Ford trucks since 1970 and this one has been in the shop more than all of them combined.
They did not charge me for the new hose due to the fact that I had already replaced a radiator which did not fix the problem, and this was my 3rd trip to the dealership and the it was still not fixed. He did say this was not covered outside the 3/36 warranty and that Ford had came up with this new hose in late 09.
Well, when I went to NAPA for the coolant, the counterman told me his son owned a diesel shop and would repair the upper radiator hose o-rings for $40-$50.00. I got the o-rings from Ford for $5.23 ea. and let him do it. The old o-rings were red and oval. The new o-rings are a black material and should last longer.
Total was about $75.00 W/coolant NOT $225.00 from Ford.
I had the same issue on my 08 F-350 upper radiator hose leaking at the engine. Quoted over $300 by Ford to replace upper radiator hose not covered by warranty because truck was at 40K. I ordered replacement O-rings from Ford. As stated in previous post, the replacements O-Rings are black/round instead of the tan/oval as mentioned previously. I drained down the radiator, removed the quick connect hose fitting, replaced the O-rings and refilled with NAPA gold. Took about an hour, less than $40 and no leaks for over 10K now. I'm still pissed this wasn't covered under warranty but life goes on...
My 08 250 has had a phantom coolant consumption as well. Been through the leaky radiator and radiator hose replacement, but still losing about an inch in the bottle every oil change. Took it in again and the new diesel mechanic found a bad timing cover after repeated pressure tests with the help of the Ford tehc hotline. Waiting to get the truck back and see what happens
My ford has been going through the coolant also....a little when not towing. ALOT when I tow.
Just had it at the dealer for 2 weeks....they replaced a whack of EGR parts on the motor....housing,cooler,cooler..... No gases in the coolant,no cavatation.( not sure how they can tell..had to pull the water pump for that.)
Drove home today and have slight coolant loss.Only a 1 hr drive.
Truck has warranty for another 7000k.
Going to tow and see how the coolant levels are.

Keep a close eye on it. There maybe some air in the system still.
Yep
Towed today and it boiled over....temps maxed out....
Dealer told me that there might be a air bubble in it....Well there is no coolant in it now!!! They said to top it off and keep watching it.
Topped it off and went for a little tow...still have coolant coming out of the degas.
Im thinking without a proper bleed there will still be air in it.
How do I bleed air out? Dealer only?

No, If you are puking at the degas bottle you have something else going on here.
Truck seems to be all good now....
Heads were checked when apart.
I got ARP head studs put in when it was apart.
There was a hole in the headgasket between #2-3 cyl.
Sorry guys for the late response, but I really had to make sure. My level in the coolant bottle dropped about an inch after replacing the timing cover and I added coolant. Now it is above the line, looks like it had an air pocket, and has remained there ever since for about 5k miles. The tech also found traces of water in the engine when he pulled the cover.
Well, I was doing great with maintaining coolant level. Got under my truck the other day to do some pre-summer inspection and found coolant starting to leak from the lower hose/engine. Just got it back from the dealer again, got 50k miles now, keep you guys updated on the inspections.
