What are the chances that the lifter would fail the same day he buys the truck? lol crazy stuff! These motors have a magnetic drain plug on them and we r going to pull.the plug and see if there's any needle bearings on it
ok we pulled the cab off the truck and the motor out of the truck, we looked at the camshaft and you can see most of the lobes and lifters, all that we can see looked fine. the oil filter was good inside not the problem. the motor spun a rod bearing. that rod cap had a bolt that was loose. the motor was rebuilt by ford 90,000 miles ago. would it still be under warranty?? i think they forgot to tighten up that cap and thats what spun it! i dont know, but the crankshaft has already been turned .75mm thats as much as you can turn the crankshaft. so i guess what we need is a new crank, one new rod, and bearings?? should i replace lifters anyways?

The rebuilt motor with 90,000 miles on it turned approximately 180 million revolutions since it spun the bearing. My guess would be the damage was due to the abuse the engine took. Don't forget to look at the rod thrust side where it comes in contact with the rod next to it. My experience from my racing days usually shows the thrust surfaces of both rods were gauled, and had to be replaced.
