Everything I've ever seen said 4.10 down, or 4.56 up.

But if you get "thick gears" (like randys likes to sell) you would need a 4.10 down carrier.

I have 4.56 up Detroit locker and "thin gears" in my D60 front.

I also could have swore a carrier is a carrier for a D60, front or rear, standard or "RC" as long as the spline count is the same.

Yea, I guess it's kind of a yes/no deal. I was reading the Dana 60 bible over on Pirate, check it out, it says some aftermarket stuff is different. Mine is set up with a std carrier that had 3.54's and the thick gears, reason being when I bought the 5.13's I was putting them on the stock carrier, then later on I bought the Powr-Loc for it so if I was starting from scratch I could have went either way.

Mark, Im not being a smart *** to you but manufacturers wouldnt sell "thick" gears if there wasnt a carrier break.

I like running thick gears with 4.10 down aftermarket carriers for one kinda stupid reason...if I ever want to switch back to 4.10 or numerically lower gears I wont have to buy a new carrier. Stupid I know but the gears and carriers are roughly the same price for any way you go and sometimes in racing you figure out you need to change some gear ratios or stagger them.
