Wow lot of jeep haters on here...well i love my ford and my jeep and they both have their up's and downs....i can drive my jeep daily and haul my little family around and get decent mileage, yet hit the trails or mud holes and tear **** up...and yet my ford is just big and bad *** and ready to take on mud holes and small cars, but yet have to pay an arm and a leg just to drive it with these gas prices.

since so many jeep owners came outta the wood work.....

Ive decided im gonna gear the Jeep (not sure exactly what gears it has now but it will be reciveing at least 4.56's-4.88's when i raise the $$ to do it, now i know the front is stamped D30 question here is it appears its split different carriors just like the 44? except the break is 3.54 and numerically lower and 3.73 and numerically higher right?

Next question,,, what Rears where in these? its a 87 wagoner limited 4.0 basically a Cherokee with wood paneling from what ive seen, but everywhere ive seen has it with a 35 rear or a chrysler 8.25 anyone know which one it would have or a way to tell them apart?

but anyways the 35 has a split aswell? 3.31 numerically lower and 3.54 and numerically higher?

and if its the 8.25 it doesnt have a Serious carrior break right?

Thanks for all help..

Right

The 8.25 has a little extra material on the lower pumpkin (flat on the bottom, like a smashed circle) that extends further down than the D35 (the D35 follows the curve of the diff cover). The 8.25 doesn't have a carrier break in it.

but anyways the 35 has a split aswell? 3.31 numerically lower and 3.54 and numerically higher?
Yep

Hope this helps.

Yup it does, i checked out that site you posted earlier in this thread and from some the FAQ posts firgured out i do indeed have a 35 from the descriptions they gave but im pretty sure it has 3.55 gears in it so i shouldnt have to get a new carrior for the rear

You will have a D35 or D44. The 8.25 didn't show up until 92. JIM.
