Question on a Jeep..

Yea i know its a Ford forum BUT it is atleast 4x4 lol

Anyways i just picked up a 87 Jeep wagoneer limited 4x4 with the 4.0 in it itll run all day long at idle and up to 2000 ish (no tach in it) after that it looses power my guess is its a clogged fuel filter or the fuel pump isnt keeping up with it the plugs need changing and the distributer could use a cap prolly or cleaned any other ideas on it?

Ill see bout putting a pic up in a few

if it is not a fuel problem, try swapping the coil.
i have had the same thing on both a 289 and a 428

i miss my old cherokee. 315,xxx and would still light em up with ease

check the exhaust too if you can fit your round self under it :flipoff:

it sounds like not enough fuel or spark, but maybe theres a pinched exhaust pipe. any overheating issues when you try to run it at higher rpms? ditch the cat if it has one.

normally the hint of a pinched off exhaust is it sounds like a jet engine.
