Those are real GT40 heads and they're better than E7TEs. Why did you take them back?
the heads didn't have the hole for the pollution...... the heads that i got are port polished with bigger valves. i was told by the machine shop that these heads are closed chamber. what ever that means.

i have the truck now. it runs good. i know i got a missfire some wheres. thinking of replacing the plugs.

My old head wich i still have. the numbers that i see are
ETTE
PA
21
What kind of head would that be?
here are a few pics. i would said the project is half way complete. i dont want the truck for racing but a little more wont hurt

That's no reason to take them back, untouched GT40s flow about 20% better than E7TEs.

Right... whatever that means... could be anything. It could mean your machinist sold you a set of the worst SBF heads ever produced.. the E6SE mustang heads.. which even with larger valve and porting don't flow as well as the ones you took off.

They're E7TE.. same head as every other truck engine built since 1987.

Conanski, thanks for keeping up with me.

The truck does feel stronger, maybe not as strong if i would of done the GT heads but i can feel the difference. would the intake from the 5.8 fit my 302 and would it help?

At some point its smells a little bitt like gas like if the gas wasnt burning right or like a miss fire. since its been a year since i replaced the spark plugs what would you recommend. The block is bored .40 over with a cam and the 351(E7T) headS.. would i need colder plugs??

No on the colder plugs. Check fuel pressure and pull the codes.

1. I would never let a mechanic work on my truck.
2. I would never let said mechanic put on a set of heads on my truck that they have no clue what they were off of.
3. You should have kept the GT40's.
4. A machine shop could have drilled and tapped the heads for the crossover tube. (or just remove it all together and not worry about it).
5. you got the truck back from the "mechanic" and it has a miss. Good busniess there. Anyone that works on a vehicle should address any and all issues that they could have caused, which the miss is probably something he caused in the first place. Year old plugs should not cause a misfire
6. Your mechanic is an idiot.

Good luck with the truck
