need help identifying this truck

The vin on the cab says its an 81' f-250, the title says 81 f100. Any help would be appreciated, I understand the bed is off an older truck.

We've had a similar discussion on the past. The general discussion was with the exception of some very specific service type vehicles (think airport) nobody has ever seem a short wheel base F250. But if you're cab says F250 and your title says F100, you've got a problem. Probably someone grafted the F250 cab onto your truck. What is the VIN on the cab?

Ford Fleet has a VIN decoder I like:

https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp

Says you have a model year 1981 F250

That grille, however, looks to be non-original (1981 doesn't have the oval logo) and your
hood is missing the F O R D across the front.

Seems somebody has done some bodywork on that thing?

That title VIN is hosed. It really needs to begin with 1FT or 2FT.

That's a nice looking grille on that truck....looks similar to my old '87 F-150 grille, but I don't think for a second that truck is an '87....

It's either an F100 or F150 underneath. Two measurments that might help narrow it down are the wheel lug spacing and rear leaf spring widths. If you have 5 x 4.5 inches wheels, it's an F100. If the spacing is 5 x 5.5 inches its likely an F150. Spring width on the F100 is generally 2.5 inches, but it can be bigger, If the spring width is 3 inches its most likely an F150.
