I am very disappointed with what ford is doing with their cab chassis. I am about to spend 80k on a truck and can't have so much of what I want. No aux gas tank on cc lariat, no back up camera, no king ranch, no power, no no no. I don't know why I keep buying fords.
Your utility body will not mount on a pickup frame.

The frame rails are different, IIRC the Cab/Chassis trucks have the industry-standard 34" frame width and the pickups have a wider, 38" frame width.

If you are aware of a truck that'll better suit your needs than you should go and buy it. Since you apparently don't see a better alternative I think you know exactly why you keep buying them.

For the same reason the rest of us do: It's the best choice!

cab and chassis

Thanks for the info Crazy001. Yes your right about it being the best option. I just get frustrated when I don't get exactly what I want.

Hey Trevor. I too was frustrated by not being able to order items I wanted on my Lariat chassis cab. I very much wanted the homelink. Can't get it. I probably would have ordered the aux tank, can't do that with Lariat. By the way if you don't know it. The job 2 chassis cabs have the DEF tank moved inside the frame instead of on the right outside. Great if you are going to mount flatbed with underbed boxes like I am. That is with Lariat single fuel anyhow, obviously not with XL/XLT and aux tank option. My dealer had never seen the DEF tank inside before. They always had to use the DEF relocation kit. I'll be sooo happy to get my bed and hithch and boxes, still a ways off. Good luck with your choice. Will have RDS aux tank, they are great and very reasonable price.

cab chassis

Hey Jim, Thanks for the info regarding job 2 changes. I'll probably wait a few months to see if any of the options available will change for the 2012.

trevordog, I have absolutely no regrets about purchasing the chassis/cab. It is much better in every way than the 6.0 except for the lag issue we are seeing right now. But Ford has been very good with fixing the issues that the pickups have had, so hopefully they will get on this lag issue soon. Nothing has really changed with the truck to make it better, I may have just seemed a little negative earlier. For what I do with the truck, there is no better option and I would and will buy another in the near future.

cab and chassis

Hey Wldwnd,

I am very relieved to hear that you are happy with the cab and chassis. I was pretty worried about some of the members negative comments regarding the cab and and chassis and the 300hp/660 tq. Its also kind of confusing reading cab and chassis threads because I'm not sure if the people posting on these threads are pickup or cab and chassis owners. Anyways, thank you and everyone else on this awesome forum for taking the time to help.

hello to all, I joined here for just a thread as this. any updates from anyone? I have an 08 6.4 now and have a 2012 6.7 being outfitted with a new hay bed as we speak. I am a little concerned about the derated engine as well but was told it was still more than i have now. any updates or flashes anyone knows of? or any problems anyone has experienced with the cc? thanks

Katesdad I have 15k hard miles on mine and have been more than happy. It is doing everything my 6.0 did. The only thing I would change is the rear springs are a little softer than I like.

Welcome Katesdad. Just over 10,000 on my chassis cab. It hasn't been at a dealer since the day I took delivery. I only use it for pulling 34 foot Holiday Rambler 5th wheel. I've had no turbo lag, transmission problems or anything else for that matter. Sure hope I didn't just jinx myself.

I was frustrated at first with the less hp and torque of the chassis cab engine. But I don't use the full potential of what is available now, let alone if it had 400 hp 800 lbs torque. It pulls the 5th wheel with absolutely no trouble. It rarely ever comes out of 6th going from Kansas to Travis AFB California every year.

Very comfortable seats, nice console and love the Sirius. My dealer sells a lot of chassis cabs to farmers and ranchers pulling considerable more load than I do. These consist of steel beds with hydraulic hay set up, also lots of BIG gooseneck cattle trailers. This truck is great and I wouldn't change a thing.

Very happy here!!!

Jim
