Has anyone here tried the 1957-1963 Styleside rear bumper brackets from Johns F-Fun Hundreds in Anaheim, CA? Im looking for a set for my truck and this shop seems to be the only one to carry them.
I'd be interested to know also. Are these bumpers sourced from China or another supplier? This would be a great way to get the big utility bumper off my 62 Uni.
After doing some checking it appears Dennis Carpenter has this bumper also, says it's imported so I imagine it's the same one. $300 in the Carpenter catalog, doesn't say if the brackets are included.
ya im interested in the brackets more than the bumper itself right now. i dont have a bumper or any of the hardware so before i get as far as getting a bumper i need brackets. the only shop ive found with brackets has been Johns but idk if theyre any good
in my looking around Johns seems to be the only shop to sell the 57-63 rear bumper brackets. i contacted them Friday and they said they were sold out but should have another shipment in two weeks. so much for the chance to put a rear bumper on the 63 when im back in town for spring break
According to their catalog the truck shop only has rear bumper brackets for the 48-72 stepsides and the 64-72 stylesides. I need the ones for a 63 styleside
ya i wanna make sure i can get the brackets before i order a bumper tho. who makes the best chrome bumpers for these trucks?
I tried the truck shop front bumper, but I was not happy with the fit. Rock Auto has the fronts, though I never checked to see if they have the rear, but their prices beat anybody else so far. I don't think they carry the rear though. The truck shop does have the brackets, but call them to check stock... I have called in the past to check stock, and gone over to their shop right after calling only to find they are out of stock... Well the place is like a Museum for antique cars and trucks so it never seems a wasted trip. But verify they have what ever you need in stock, by caling first before ordering..... if it is a back order they never seem to tell you or notify you, unless you bug them! John's F fun-hundreds has been much more reliable so far.
The only hit against John's is the prices on certain items.. but it seems it is all of the CPP Items that they sell, that have the inflated prices such as power steering assist kits, and disc brake conversion kits. It might have something to do with CPP being only a few blocks away from John's. Some companies have No Compete clauses with distributors, and that may be the case with John's , But that is only my take on it!
i dont see them but the only truck shop catalogs i have access too are a printed copy of the 09 catalog and the new online one. ill call tomorrow and ask if they have any in stock.
Yeah I actually I think my catalog is pretty old it may be well out of date! If John's Has them chances are the prices will be much better anyway. That has been my experience so far, except with the CPP products The truck shop also has a division called teh Car Shop, which is primarily CHEVY cars, and ford Mustang parts, but on any given day, most of teh customers there are buying CHEBBY parts! I was there a few weeks ago, and guy asked why there are not a lot of people in there buying ford parts, and in a large crowd of CHEBBY guys, I sayed" because the Fords actually run" Well all of the ford guys got a good giggle out of it!
