Previous Owner Hack = Fire

While installing the new ScanGuage I just got I moved a wire I had always wondered what it went to? The wire set has a connection on it I have never seen before? It then Shorted out and caught on fire under the dash

. There was a fuse in line unfortunately the splice with the loss open end wires was after the fuse. Thankfully the fire only melted the wires that directly shorted out. Everything on the tuck still works however the flashing alarm light now flashes different then before.

Has anybody seen one of these style wire connectors and what it may go to?

Possibly a connector for a CB.

Yeah, it was just a pile of wires wound up in there. The black plug was by the air bag gauge, but connected to nothing? I have never seen a flat style plug like it before?

Looks like a mess. Glad to see it didn't do more damage than what it did.

Like he said CB, the fuse should be on the other end of the wire close to the power sorce.

Thanks. there are a lot of things that go through your mind as the entire cab fills with smoke.

schlepprock250 and twigsV10: ok so CB, thanks guys. The fuse was about 4" from the black plug just inside the dash where I could not see it or the open wires?
