Looks good are the speakers that thin? That they don't go into the door panel at all? I wish the previous owner of my truck thought of that before he hacked into the doors did you make that head unit mount for the dash?

there is one hole in door panel where the 6x9 is . it was solid steel where the 6 1/2 is that's why they stick out so far . plus it covers up the hack job from previous owner.

an yes i made the head unit mounting bracket . The original hole had been hack up to so that is the best thing i could think of to fix it .

Pretty nice job. On my 69 i didnt want to mess with cutting the doors either so when i upholstered the headliner i decided to put them up there. doesnt take up much space, looks and sounds nice. Ill try to post some pics later.

Unhappy spekers behind seat

I have wanted to move the gas tank from behind the seat..mount the fuel cell farther back to get better weight.transfer..like over the spair tire area..than use that area for speaker boxes...but i want the sound from out front. Not behind the seat.???? not enough room in the kick panels...darn hate to cut those nice doors...bill

I like the door boxes, something to keep in mind for my 67. Like the headliner mount also. How do those sound up there?

I pulled the tank on mine and made a metel bracket and mounted them in the cab corners. The p.o. put 6x9's in the door and the windows wouldn't go all the way down.

Have you seen that two channel 6x9 center dash speaker ?
Bet you would get pretty good sound reflecting off your windshield.
Also there is pretty good space under the seat for amps, and a sub.
You may have to sacrifice seat adjustability though.
