So I'm on the market for some towing mirrors on my 2002 F250.
I searched and found some links to Discount Auto Mirror and Parts Train where I found Kook Vue mirrors for my truck. There are a couple of items that look basically the same and have the same features but there is a $50 difference so I'm trying to figure out what the differences are.
I tried calling Discount Mirrors twice and got two different answers. A call center answers the phones and they have no clue what they are talking about.
Does anyone know that the difference is between SKU: FD79L and SKU: FD66L?
Look at the 2008 and up all manual trailer-towing (TT) mirrors. They are a little more money, but WELL worth it, in my opinion. I ended up getting a set of used OEM TT mirrors from a 2009 XL F-350 from a wrecking yard in MN. They are "like new". The price including shipping to SoCal was $215. See Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market.
My old 2000 F250 did not have the type that folded forward; I lost a passenger side mirror on a light pole while backing my boat into a tight spot. I replaced both of them with the later model that folds both ways.
I have the 1 way fold. I would highly recommend the 2 way. Someone fell on to my passenger side and pushed it forward about 3 inches. It stuck like that and the plastic around where it touches the door was pushed out about an inch. I thought it was done for but later I pressed it back and all was normal again. Apparently they have some give pushes out the inner plastic. Either way, WHEN they get broken all the way I am getting 2 way.
Never ordered from there but let me know how it goes if you do! I love me some manual mirrors on my truck, just feels right. And that is a very good price!
The customer service from other link I posted sucked (AM auto parts).
I got the 08 style mirrors b/c the blind spot section was larger than the "correct" mirrors for the 02 body style truck. Since I used the truck to tow my race car, excellent towing vision is important to me.
They installed easily. Just needed to grind off one spot as noted in the instructions in a thread somewhere on here. I am very happy with the fitment and function of these mirrors. They don't wobble or shake and provide excellent visibility. I paid $290 all in for the full manual mirrors including shipping etc.
Blah, blah, blah, anyway, here are a couple of pics. Thanks for pjwoolw and Fat Diesel for helping me install these at the last Nor Cal tech day / hangout.
