i think its hit and miss with aftermarkets. i LOVE the way mine look on my truck but after all the time spent trying to adjust them its still a waist of time. i can get them to project perfect but they look TERRIBLE in the day time.

They only last so long.
Depends on the kit I guess. The one from 3m is great, various grit standing pads, compounds, and at $20 I wouldn't care if I did have to do it every year. That being said, think I did mine 2 or 3 years ago and they still look like new
I'm not familiar with the HID kit, does that pull power from the switch or separate 12v source? If it's 'plug and play' where your old bulb was then yes, I would imagine this would make them brighter. Again, I don't know how the HID kit works...
