expedition build up?

ive been the proud owner of my 97 expedition for about 4 years now and tipping the scales at about 175k now, its been a hell of a good vehichle put almost 40k on it with out a problem. my wife just bought a 2008 dodge ram so the expy goes to me now! its not my daily driver so im thinkin about getting a bit wild with it.

the base SUV is a 97 expedition eddie bauer with the a 5.4/4 wheel drive. except for the drivers seat showin a bit of wear and tear and a faded header pannel the the car is in amazing shape.

im wanting to put a f150 lightning front bumper on it and a f150 roll pan to get rid of the chrome front and rear bumpers. does anyone know if this bumper will fit on? i understand ill have to replace the header pannel to make it work but will the rest of the mounts still work? really have no idea. was even wondering if a wings west f150 kit will fit on it?

ive allready got a forged 5.4 internall kit, im gonna build a a motor to put some boost through. still searching for a turbo/supercharger kit. any ideas? so far ive got my eye on a STS system or a procharger p1sc

ill retro fit my new ground force lowering kit from my f150 ill that nevet got installed to lower the SUV around 2 " and getting a new set of wheels to make the thing really stand out.

and finnaly getting a nice black gloss paint job, maybee i think that SUV would look slick with all that even if i dont change the color and keep it that dark burgundy color thats on it.

any one got any advice that can help me achieve this idea? and what will happen to the expedition when i put 8psi of boost through it( suspension, transmission, front driveline). because the last thing i would want to do is spend 6k or 7k on body and paint and parts just to rip out the transmission or tcase and differential.

thanks!

there is a rousche (sp) expi for sale on ebay inburgundy worth looking at to see what other people did. I think that would be a fun idea. but probably better if it was two wheel drive. just a thought. If you have money to blow seems like fun to me.

I have been running an aftercooled vortech supercharger (13 lbs boost) for about 50k miles, I am currently at 126k and have noticed no negative effects. The supporting mods you do make a world of difference on how it works out. Forged internals will make the motor bullet proof as the rods and pistons are the weak point. Check to make sure the tranny and transfer case are healthy enough. Finding a used kit or piecing something together may your only option for a SC as the companies might not have new kits available any longer (Vortech does not). Never regretted doing it to mine, makes it a lot more fun to drive!

Why on earth would anybody "build up" an Expedition? They just scream mall cruiser. It will never be fast, and it certainly wont ever be cool. How about you just send me the money and I will kick you in the nuts?

Surely you are joking...right?

FWIW I just helped a buddy of mine supercharge his f250 with a 5.4. I found a procharger on Craigslist and convinced him to go for it. It made a world of difference in the truck.

I think you would have to be retarded to spend thousands of dollars fixing up a nearly 15 yr old grocery getter, no joke.

I think people are crazy for spending $50k plus on a new truck when I can spend a few thousand on mine and make it as good as new again. Sure it doesn't have the same "features" as a new one...but it's mine and I still have all that money in my pocket.

I'm not sure I would ever supercharge my Expedition...but it sure sounds fun.

I say go for it!

Everybody has to have a hobby so if the OP want's to supercharge or turbo charge have at it. There are plenty of aftermarket performance parts for the 5.4!

If the heater hose is where the heater core is, then you'll have to take the whole front dash off to the firewall. So $800 sounds reasonable

If you dislike your Expy so much, why are you here? This is an enthusiasts' forum. I certainly don't think my '98 EB is a mall cruiser or a grocery getter. If that's what I wanted, I would have bought a minivan. It's people like you that deserve the moniker "Troll".

OP-Go for it. Sounds like a fun project, and I'd like to see the results.

Where did I say I dislike my Expy?

Enthusiasts...bwahahahahahaha

The Expy serves me as a reliable transportation tool.

Thanks for feeding the troll

Whatever you do, don't feed the troll! All opinions aside, I say go for it, keep us posted on what you do so others will know if it is a good idea. You are the guinea pig for doing it. If your motor detonates, then we know it might be a bad idea. It's your money. Some people like to spend it at a casino, you want to spend it on your truck. Just keep in mind, that is money you probably will never get back if you leave it on the truck. However, you can remove it and sell it off if you get rid of the Expy. Post pictures/keep us informed. Good Luck
