Hi,i'm new to this site,i'm trying to find out what steering column i need for my 67 f100,it has power steering with the ford steering box 2 bolts on top (brand new from red head steering gears)and floor shift.the bearing is bad at the bottom.Someone has cut this column down by the looks(if these trucks could talk)don't know what year truck it is out of.any help would be great!!! what column do i need?
hi allwthrrider,I would replace the bearing.I called dennis carpenter the guy told me the shaft should be 1 inch but mine is 3/4,and also said both bearings should be the same size, they are not,the part that holds the bearing in the bottom needs to be replaced also, when it was cut down they welded it in (crappy job).i could fix it if i could get the correct parts,i would like to shorten it again to get the wheel closer to the dash!any help would be great!!!
i bought my truck a couple months ago so i don't know everything about it yet!!(alot of snow here in ny)There is a b+m shifter in it.as for the column i found all the parts to rebuild it so that's what i'm gonna do!shorten it AGAIN (3 inches) to get the wheel closer to the dash.
