Rear fuel tank, "Highboy" ???

I have read several post about relocating the fuel tank on Bumpsides, my question is on the F-250 4X4 the frame is different in the back and wanted to know if anyone has done this. the truck is high enough to put it where the spare tire goes, just have not found a post where this has been done. There is a brace in the frame, here is a picture showing the braces in the way I don't want to move them as they are located at the rear spring mounts. Just looking for idea's on what to do. Sorry the picture is not the best angle, but I'm not at home and had to use a picture I made several months ago

Thanks Tate

dunno if this helps but i have seen a couple different hiboys, a 73 and 75 that both had 40 gal factory tanks in that location. you would have to change that exhaust though. to me that appears to be the best spot for relocating the tank to, i plan to put mine there as well

High Boys: 1967/76 F250 4WD & 1977 F250 4WD before serial number Y20,001.

All have rear frame rails (behind the cab) that are 33 1/2" apart.

Ford offered an optional 25 gallon auxillary 'mid-ship' fuel tank for 1967/72's. It was mounted inside the left (drivers) side rail in FRONT of the rear wheel.

1973/77 High Boys offered an optional 19 gallon aft axle fuel tank that was mounted inside the left frame rail BEHIND the rear wheel.

The in-cab fuel tank was cancelled mid-year 1977.

There was no such thing as a factory installed 40 gallon auxillary fuel tank available for any 1967/79 F100/350.

i dont know what codes are what and theres always someone that says that certain things never were available.... and yet both the trucks have big fuel tanks as was stated and have had them sinece 74 and 75. one my dad and one my uncles both purchased new. if they werent options then i dont know what to tell ya, but i can assure you the tanks are there, have always been there, and they are large, dont know exactly but i'd say at least 35-40 gal. neither one was something they had special made
