You're dead right, nothing special about that truck other than it's in nice shape, the springs aren't sagged out, and it has 35's on it; they will fit on a bone stock truck.
The Highboy/Lowboy designation came about in 77 when Ford switched the F250's from the narrow frame divorced transfer case chassis to the wider frame married case chassis like the F150's had. This change lowered the truck by around 4".
Hahaha wow! I always wondered about that, I just knew I liked the high boys a lot more. Learn something new every day. If I learned this much in my college classes I'd be doing good lol.
I saw the exact same truck on the seattle craigslist under a different ad that didn't call it a highboy. The used car dealers sure do overuse craigslist.
Very interesting. Hell thats about all I find on there is scammers, and dealers trying to sell trucks. I was looking for fun at like 99+ trucks. Damn its so expensive. I could make my Ford brand new custom nice and spend 1/2 what those guys are after. Hell I could spend 1/5 of the price of a new truck and be just as nice if not nicer. I just can not imagine paying 50k for a truck, that is pure insanity.
Highboys actually aren't all that great. Cool, but not tough. Disk brakes didn't come along til (i believe) 76. Also, they use low pinion d44's, 77 had different splined axle shafts, and a funky power assisted steering setup (technically not true power steer). They also used 2 1/2" leaves in the back and as 82F100SWB said, the (rear) of the frames are narrower (actually, frames are same width forward of the cab, mounts are diff). Oh, and finally, since I'm listing some differences, they usually (if not always) had the gas tank behind the seat. The divorced t-case, 4" higher ride height, and huge 3-piece hubs are what really seem to draw folks to them. My 83 F100 4x2 will actually end up being part highboy when I get the t-case xmember and mounts made up.
