so i'm changing the glow plugs in the 94 7.3 turbo got 7 in no problem. the one directly under the turbo 2nd one from the back broke off in the head. the threaded portion came out the rest is stuck in the head. so i start pulling the turbo off. crossover pipe is out down pipe is disconnected. my question is how the hell do you guys get the 4 bolts off the hot side of the turbo. 2 of em came off the other 2 are still there and i can hardly get a wrench on em let alone enough force to break em loose.
when i do the banks units, i leave the turbo mounted to the pedistal, and remove the 2 bolts from the back of the head. turbo and pedistal come off with no problem.
Brycemc, there is a supplement for the IDI turbo, that you must have. It makes turbo removal a walk in the park. I forget where I down loaded it. I have it in PDF . Send me a private message, and i'll send it to ya.
