I am wondering what it's function is? And how can i test it? The ABS light is off, it was on before I replaced master cyl. @ $120 I want to make sure I need a new one, before I spend the $$

It's got a bleeder on it. This system is about the most reliable ABS there is. I never had to replace one at work. All it does is pulse your rear brakes when it senses a lockup. You have a abs computer behind your glove box that controls it.
That's why you need to flush the system once a year or so. All you have to do is crack open all 4 bleeders at the wheels and run a can of clean fluid through it. As long as you don't touch the brake pedal air isn't gonna get in it.
I forgot earlier, the ABS self tests each time you turn the key on. There is no need to test it manually. It cycles the abs valve, checks the warning light and looks for a signal from the master cylinder reservoir indicating full. It also looks for closed loop to the rear wheel speed sensor.
If it senses a hydraulic side problem then it turns on both red and amber warning lights. Just the abs light for an electrical problem.
If you do have trouble getting fluid to the rear then cycle the key a couple times. It should go then.
Biggest mistake ever. (for me)
All the oil went out though my drivers side caliper and the rest of the lines got air in them and so did the ABS module which is a beeeeeetch to bleed.
I had to thwack mine with a screw driver handle a few times to get all the air out.
If it would warm up here, i'd play with my brakes some more, but next week is Hpop and UVCH time.
