my 95 broncos abs brake light stays on all the time and wont go off im guessing the part is bad?I was told they dont make the part anymore thats not working thats keeping the abs light on sorry i forgot what its called.but why would the abs light stay on all the time?anyone?
I'm not sure what part you are referring to, but if it is part of the brake system, I am sure it is available.
There are sensors from front to back that can trigger the light.
Pull your codes and see if that tells you anything.
I am assuming that you have checked fluid level.....Low fluid in reservoir will also trigger the light
you have an abs test port under the hood near the regular test port.
I think that depends on the truck.Seems to me, I remember seeing an abs harnesss on my Bronco, but not on my pickup.
I will double check that later for my own reasons, but will post what I find if that point has not hasn't been cleared up by the time I get home.
The Bronc is definitely 4wheel abs...that I know.
I just checked and it does have the red test end. The F-150 has none, and is only the rear wheel abs and you already know.
what terminals do you jump to flash the abs codes?
To the best of my knowledge, you can not retrieve the abs codes without the proper diagnostic tools...It would help if I knew what vehicle you are referring to.
Here's my two cents. FYI, I've got a 96 Bronco, and I've had ABS problems so I hope I can help here.
First off, the ABS light is *not* triggered by low brake fluid levels. That turns on the "Brake" light that also comes on when the parking brake is set.
If it's the orange ((ABS)) light you're talking about, anything from a blown fuse to a failed wheel speed sensor will make it light up. Your best bet is to check the codes. Here's a link to another site that goes over the procedure:
I looked up the codes a long time ago, but can't find the old site. Again, check your codes (and while you're at it, check the fuse; it just takes a minute or two) and see what it shows.
if your speedo is working properly along with your odometer then you can rule out the sensor located on top of the rear diff. like Crun says pull the codes it should tell ya.
Check the individual wheel speed sensors. If you have rear ABS there will be one at each rear wheel. 4 wheel ABS will have one at each wheel. You'll see the one to two wires going into the sensors, there wont be any other electronics in the vicinity. If one goes bad or the signal is disrupted(broken wire, unplugged, water in connector) the light will pop and stay on until the signals are equal. Besides that, there will be sensors at the ABS control pump which will have the brake lines and wires going into it, and the module. The systems in that time were pretty simple. The ((ABS)) light is essentially electronic failure only. Everything still functions except the anti-lock. Brakes will still work. If the red BRAKE light pops on, there's a fluid (or possibly vaccum) problem and you need to check immediately for the problem, don't pass go, don't collect $200. Thats how you go flying through a stop light with the brake pedal to the floor...and need a new pair of pants shortly after.
