99 ford explorer
i have all the power in the cabin and all the lights. Began by pulling the starter when off the starter kicks just fine but on the truck it won't do anything no so much as a kick. we even wired up a push button but still nothing won't crank at all. Any ideas? It is the 4.0 sohc 4x4.

What do the lights do when you try to engage the starter with the push button? If they go out, I'd say the issue is due to a dirty, loose, or bad connections somewhere. If they don't even dim, then it would suggest you have an open to the starter or the starter relay. Where were you connecting the push button to? Did you go straight to the yellow/light blue wire at the starter motor assembly? Have you checked for battery voltage to the starter motor?
