fuel tank delete
how do I permantely delete my mid aux fuel tank on my 1990 f150 xlt lariat 5.8l 4x4 with dual charcoal canisters, thus farev everyone has had different answers and i just need to know the right way please im desperate.

i'm in somewhat the same boat,i too want to remove the front tank.it doesn't work anyway.the 19 gal. tank in the rear is ok with me. this is my woods truck that i go hunting in and drive once a week or so when i'm not hunting.i'm thinking all i have to do is drop the tank and plug the fuel lines to and from,tape off electrical connection.if i'm wrong please tell me.good luck in finding the info you need.

Cut off the two fuel lines going into the fuel tank and take them to a machine shop and have them turn a rod to the same dimension as the ends of the fuel tubes.
Then just snap in the two blank rods that they made into the fuel lines.
Leave the dash switch on the tank that you want to use.

I think I will cut off the metal tubes coming out of the sending unit crimp them and solder the ends.will doing that cause any problems if perhaps the fuel pump check valve goes bad and trys to cross fill the front tank as the recall states. or by removing the sending unit/fuel pump in the tank i am removing make it not possible to cross fill since the check valve which fails is in the sending unit on the 1990. does this make sense? what im trying to say is if i remove the sending unit with the check valve in it doe i have to put a check valve on the existing fuel lines or will it be ok to just plug the lines and call it good. or should i plug the lines at the y connector on the frame rail near tank

The 1990 did not have a selector on the frame rail.

A 1990 is kinda shaky ground for me. I know what the 89 an older trucks have and the 92 and newer but not sure what they did in 1990-91 with the fuel lines.
I know the 90-91 fuel lines are different than any other year Ford Truck.
I have the 1990 wiring diagrams but no Ford shop manual for 90-91.
If you can post photos it would be a big help in helping you and others down the road.

Yes I would have to say that is normal for that year of truck. They look stock.
