Didn't notice this until we got hit with some snow.. not sure how long its been like this, but when I stepped on the brakes in the ice, the wheels just locked up. So my 4 wheel abs isn't working.
On start up, there is no ABS light on the dash, not sure what that means.
I have checked all the fuses and relays and they are all fine. What else could be the issue? What is commonly the issue with something like this?
If the ABS lamp doesn't light up at KOEO for a check, before you crank the engine, it suggests the ABS computer isn't getting power, or the ABS lamp is burned out.
There are 4 things to check in the under hood power distribution box.
A 50 amp maxi fuse in position #3, a 30 amp mini fuse in position #7, a resistor & diode, side by side, in positions #1.
In cabin, in the dash fuse panel, check fuses #14 & #30, both are 10 amp.
Has the ABS light been on at any time in the past, or recently?????
Any event preceed this happening????
If you can't find anything wrong power feed wise, with fuses or wiring, run this puppy by a trusted brake shop, or Dealer & have the system looked at by a brake specialist, familar with Fords 4WABS system & see what they have to say.
The resistor and diode are absent in the side by side position 1. In the manual that says it is for rear abs though and i have 4wheel abs. Does this matter?
OK, so the lamp is burned out & or you don't have any power to the ABS module. With your not having any ABS at all & the ABS lamp not turning on at KOEO, I'd suspect it's a power feed problem right now.
So begin looking to why thats so. Use your multimeter, or 12 volt test lamp & make sure that you have power going to the ABS module.
Have you been having any brake problems, or has the ABS, or Brake light been on????
