Blue smoke usually oil. If it only does this on start up and off idle it's probably valve seals. If it does pretty much all the time or on hard acceleration it means the ring seal problems.
If it is just a wisp of smoke occasionally when you first start I wouldn't worry about it. I had an E 150 with a 4.6 that did this the whole time I owned it. It is probably a valve seal that is allowing oil seepage when the engine is off. Depending on where in the combustion cycle that cylinder is when it is shut off it may or may not happen. If that is what yours is it is not worth an expensive repair. Mine stayed like that for 4yrs without getting worse.
Any oil consumtion to speak of? I owned an 85 Z-28 with a 305 sb and it did the same thing, a little wisp of blue smoke on start up and off idle. It used a quart of oil every 2000 miles in local stop and go driving. On long highway trips it used no oil. I didn't do anything and the engine never gave me a problem. Which ever way you decide to go, just keep in mind that Ford's modular engines with the overhead cams are a little more complicated that a small block Chev or Ford so there are increased odds of mistakes.

About the same. One quart between oil changes.
My thoughts exactly on the fixing it. Might do more harm than good.
