SMOKE

When I first start my truck in the morning ESPECIALLY when its cold outside it smokes like crazy!!

Its NOT black smoke, its like a whitish smoke and it smokes until it warms up then it goes away. It didnt start until I put the tuner on it and it got worse when it got super cold out..

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,

Rob

I use Rotella Synthetic 5w 40 and i have the truck setup on a remote starter. Im sure it cycles long enough but not twice.

I am deff going to start using my block heater. That brings me to another ?

When my truck is plugged in can I start it with the remote starter for approx 20 minutes?

Thank you

Use block heater for 4 to 5 hours before start.

Use a timer if you want auto turn on/off.

20 minutes is virtually useless.

Keep a close eye on antifreeze level if it is dropping even a little then you know what the white smoke is.

check out head gasket and stud kits on this fourm

I was saying, leave the truck plugged in all night then start the truck while it is still plugged in for approx 20 minutes.. Will it hurt anything?

I usuall let is warm up for 20 min via remote start. but if i have to go out to unplug it the remote start is pretty much pointless

Dont you need to pull the cab to replace the gaskets / studs? Are there any other upgrades that can be done while doing this? Im considering it... Thank you,

Rob

Ahhh ok.

Warming for 20 min is too long --- you risk other things.

Warm it for 10 min is not bad...

Did you get latest flash that cures cold starting problems?
