Took delivery of my new 2011 F-250 last night. Got it home and was just checking everything out and noticed my truck does NOT have TPMS. Not that I care because I am capable of monitoring my tire pressures, but isn't the system mandated by federal DOT? I thought all vehicles had to have it. Has anyone else come across this?
Yeah... how do you know you dont have it? Only way I'd know is to pull the tires off to see if its got the sensors but I assume you didnt do that! Or other way air a tire down to around 55# assuming your not going to haul anything, it should go off after you drive around.
On my 09 (which is just a XL without much options) had to have it, no way not to according to dealer but free. And it didnt show up on the window sticker.
I'm assuming it doesn't have it because it has the metal/rubber valve stems. You can move the valve stem if you push on it. All the TPMS system I have encountered have rigid mounted stems/sensors. I work on cars equipped with them everyday so I know what to look for. Ford may use a different style sensor. I will try and air down a tire to see if the tire light comes on.
never actually seen the tpms sensors on these trucks but i would imagine they are the same as the 08-10 which from everything i know (could be wrong though) it is a band that goes around the wheel. you would never know by looking at the outside.

Ok, that's cool. Just a different sensor than I am used to. If it's the band type on the inside of tje wheel, are they 180 degrees from the valve stem? I remember that is the way they were on Corvettes.
