Has anyone put superduty seats in their 78-79? Scored a set of leather power lariat seats for my 78 cc. Wondering how others have installed them and accounted for the taller brackets.
I had the same basic plan as your mounts, my concern is the overall height is still pretty high with the seat all the way down. Maybe with trimming off the brackets I can give myself another 3/4 inch of clearance for my melon.
it is tight for sure. I'm a small to average height guy though (I'm 5'-10" or so) and it works (or seems like it does - truck isn't done yet but test fit seems to work) for me. If I remember right (been a long while since I set up the brackets) I have it so when I'm in it and comfortable the seat gon go a bit lower but a lot higher in case the girl needs to drive.
The power brackets are what make these things so tall. If you look in my galleries you'll see a gallery with pics of how I did a '99 60/40 split bench in here before this. I made a bracket for the thing that pretty much turned it into a solid bench (lost the 60/40 aspect of being able to slide separately) but it sat lower than the current seats.
When I installed mine, I unbolted the seats from the superduty mounts, welded two pieces of square tubing to my stock sliders and bolted them in. The square tubing was welded width wise across the cab. The hardest part was mounting the center seat, the armrest bracket was tough to make work. I still need to re-work it. If you want pictures, I think I took some, just ask.
