Bucket Seats

I've been considering switching to bucket seats in my truck, and I'm curious to see the different vehicles you've pulled seats out of, and how they look. I'd love to use the bucket seats that were an option in the 78-79 bronco, but I get the feeling those are a little rare.

Thanks
Jameson

For me the thing to look out for is that buckets tend to push your position forward.
For me that's a bad thing as I'm a big dude.
Smaller guys (no offense to anyone) may have no problem at all.

There is a link in the Tech Info Compilation to adapt later model big Bronco buckets using a Corbeau bracket:

What do you guys think about low back buckets? Part of why I've avoided buckets in the first place is I don't like how newer ones don't look that great in these older trucks. I've been thinking something period correct or older than my truck would be nice. 60's-70's car seats, first gen big bronco, etc

I've got two pairs of buckets awaiting my projects... a pair of 68s lo-backs for my 2WD and a pair of 70 Mustang hi-backs for the 73 4x4... both with OEM brackets to boot. Both need to be fully rebuilt so I'm thinking of going with TMI's 'sport seat' foams and upholstery... slightly more bolstering than original...

Start hitting the swap meets.. yesterday at the Goodguys show a guy had a pair of '70 highbacks with tracks and was only asking $200. Not a bad deal but I passed.

On a 4x4 I recommend hi-backs since ya might smack your head against the back glass while offroading.

I bet low backs would get you a better position in the cab.
But I've never seen them used.
Interesting though.

Mustang seats have the look that I'm after. Those high backs look good too, better than the first gen lowbacks I've been seeing

the headrests don't look that bad, wish i knew what those came out of. I am going to get some low back suspension buckets made one day with that same color scheme.

SCAT offers these lo- and hi-backs. $243 and $275 each, respectively. No brackets for a truck so plan accordingly... fabricate if necessary.

Rebuilding a pair of '70s will run around the same price for a pair.

Good find on those.

If I got vintage car seats, I would re-cover them myself. Give me the opportunity to color them how I would like

For safety reasons a head rest between you and the rear window (standard cab) is a plus in my book ..

78/79 Bronco hi-backs

Here are a set of factory hi-backs in one of my 79 bronco's. For me, the hi-backs are MUCH more comfortable than the lo-backs, which I also have in another 79 bronco. Really no comparison in my opinion. Love the dual armrests!!

My son also put a set of these hi-backs in his 76 F250 4x4 hi-boy a few years ago and loved them!! He also put the center console in his truck.
