lift kit

I just sold my 2001 f 250 diesel lifted and all banks to buy a classic ford. But now i have a problem i dont know anything about lifting old trucks as far as lift verses tire size. I have a 1978 F 250 club cab camper special that i want 38 in tires on. what size lift do i need to fit those tires and still be able to have some flex. It will see pavement 90 percent of the time its to nice to tear up but i dont want the tires right up on the fenders. Any advice would help me greatly. I just logged on to this site to get this question answered.

4 to 6 inches of lift will get this done quite nicely. The problem with making a blanket answer is that the width of the tires, the rim offset, and the actual tire size (38s don't always mean a true 38" tall tire) determine what will fit.

i really dont want to go wider than 14.5 inches it clears 33's easy with no lift. 4in suspension, and 3in body. 6in suspension and 3in body. or just 6in suspension? like i said it will be on pavement im just building a sunday driver that will turn a few heads.
