I would like to take the captains chairs out of my 92 F250 Ext cab and swap in a 40/20/40 bench seat. (The kind with the fold down armrest/console) Is this a big deal or just a bolt in swap?
I just wanted to know what I am getting into before I start my search.
Thanks in advance
Mark
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-Dec-02 AT 05:13 PM (EST)]Pretty much a bolt-in, especially if you use a bench seat from a similar truck. Don't trash your captain's chairs, though - someone will want them. What color are they?
just something to think about. I have the 40/20/40 bench with the air powered lumbar support. Love the seat to set in. But u cant take a drink with u the console rattles so much all your coffee or soda just wants to spill unless half full or less or u hold it and in traffic thats a problem. friend of mine has a 95 with captains chairs and console mounted to floor drinks never spill
Add another person to the list of people that want your buckets. My truck is grey and has buckets but they are beyond help. As for the cupholder I didn't have spill problems with my seat mounted cup holder in my 95 f150 two wheel drive, but my 190000 mile 91 f250 4x4 bounces cups,me, the wife, and anything else all over the place. I believe it is time for new springs and shocks.

Yeah I know what you guys mean about the cups bouncing around, but I really need the extra seat space.
I went junk yard shopping today, but the only trucks that had the seats like I wanted were 94-97 models; and the grey is a different shade. I guess I will have to buy a front seat a rear seat also to get a matching set. (This could be more expensive than I thought.)
I looked for a seat in a junkyard, and all of the seats were pretty grisly. If someone takes his seats, and wants to unload their seats...
Is the rumor true that you can put a 81-96 seat in a 79 just by changing the tracks?
Thanks.
