I cleaned the ice and snow off of my truck about a week ago and in doing that i noticed my antenna was loose so I got out my wrench and went to tighten it up and when I did that it fell off!!!!! Apparently its been broke for some time it rusted in the middle of the threads and broke. I bought a new antenna hoping I could get the rest of the threads out some how, I tried to get them out the other day and no luck!! Does anyone now any secrets to get the rest of the screws out? or am I screwed and gonna have to bu a new set up?
Aftermarket antenas usually come with 2 or 3 adapters to match the antenna to the base. I would try to drill out the base and tap it to match one of the adapters. Only drill as deep as the antenna threads are and with a bit just barely large enough to remove the threads.
Edit: Buy a new bit just for this purpose. The sharper the bit the easier the job. Don't forget to lube while drilling and tapping.
I do have the adapters that came with the antenna but the down side it i have no drill lol, unless anyone has any other ideas i will make it a point to get one thanks

I would shoot some PB Blaster into the old hole/threads and then drill and use an easy out to try to remove the old screw. Or if you can get a left hand drill bit that may work too.
Awhile back I did all of these things and I had no luck. Ive just been dealing wih my CD player. Im gonna buy a new antenna setup, my question is how does the wire run nd where does it plug into? Is it easy to do?
