Quick Headlight Picture

Hey guys, just stuck inside for the weekend here. Getting hammered with snow and ice in PA. People have no idea how to drive in this kind of weather, i figure i would stay inside all weekend and do some truck research.

Heres one for ya.

- I dont want to go HID, but i wanted to know what the brightest bulb was that will fit our oem bulb socket. my headlights are smoked and the bulbs in them dont work like i would like them to at night. -

Thanks in advance guys.

I put in SilverStar Ultra's in my commuter car. They were a ton brighter than original bulbs and put out a much "whiter" light. IIRC it was $50 for the pair.

I have Sylvania Silverstar Ultras in my truck with '02 style headlights.
Helluva lot better then stock. Proper aiming makes a big difference as well.

An upgraded relay harness seems to be recommended as well. Its something I am looking into doing as well as I am unhappy with the light output.

Upgrading your wiring harness with relays and heavier wires will help as we and is needed to get the most out of your ultras.

Another vote for the Silverstars. I don't have the ultras, but even the regular ones are a huge upgrade over stock lights.

Clay is not showing them on his website, but I think he can get the heavy duty harness upgrade. For me, that made as much difference as the bulbs did.

I did this and re-aimed my lights which was a huge help for my truck.

Clear lenses ($100ish used), relay harness ($75) plus HELLA 80/100 watt bulbs ($20/pair - 1000hr bulbs. www.rallylights.com

Best light you can get IMHO. In years of running them, no one has ever thought i had my brites on when i didnt. Unlike (most - incl. Retro....) HIDs, the optics are retained and focus as well as cutoff lines are intact.

Wish i hadnt done '05 lenses in F350, but with Electrosport dual-beam HIDs, they are ok.

Sylverstars are prolly best bulb at autoparts, but they are waaaaaay overpriced and dont last very long...

Looking at that website the 80/100's have a WAAAYYYY short lifespan. 100 hrs. compared to 250 or 500 hrs. on the 60/55's. How long are those lasting you?

Funny, I remembered 'long life' and so my mind saw 1000hr's.

I've had same pair of these for 3yrs in the Excursion: (they were out of HELLA's when I ordered them)
Susquehanna MotorSports - Auto Performance Product

These are the ones I bought for F350 - they had been in truck for prolly 80k miles, LOTS of nite driving. When I put '05 lenses in F350, I kept these for when the Optilux bulbs in the X fail.

I don't care if I had to buy a pair every year - the stock junk on both my trucks was DANGEROUS! Lemme check around with the 8-10 people I've recommended this set-up to and see what they're getting for service-life. I know my friend John recently got the xenon's and said they are amazing!
