im acrually in my garage right now, workin on the56' ive beensandin the frame and in most places it working great, but for the rear its pitted, not bad but todeep to sand, i have a grindin wheel on my grindershould i use it or what????
Swap the wheel on the grinder for a wire brush attachment and have at it. Just be sure to use double eye protection; face shield and goggles. When those little wires come loose at 20,000 rpm, they can leave a mark.
i only have a wire wheel for a drill is that ok?
ony i was wondering i found two small cracks byt the front engine mount on the bottom of the frame, they are very clean, so can they simply be welded up?
I have a wire wheel on the grinder and one for the drill. The drill is better in the hard to reach places. Both work, but the grinder is a little quicker. Have at it.
I'm wire brushing my frame right now too. The drill brushes are good for tight spots. But in the open areas, they cannot compare to the wire brush on a grinder. Clean the pitting but don't grind it flat. And like they said, protect yourself.
Ah man I hate wire brushes/wheels! Nothing like wires bristles flying everywhere. They can cause some pain.
I personally prefer to use some flap disc/wheels on the grinder. But on areas that have deep pitting I'm just going to use rust converter and then fill the area with some filler.
Sandblasting is the very best way to go. If you don't have the room or the equipment you can get a small handheld enclosed unit for under $25 Sears: Online department store featuring appliances, tools, fitness equipment and more
Assuming that you have an compressed air source, these units work very nicely on isolated areas and they don't make a mess.
What is black beauty? Besides the horse lol I'm gonna be working on my frame here starting next weekend and was gonna use a high pressure washer with the sand attachment cuz I live in a neighborhood with an hoa I don't thinking they would like a weekend of sand blasting dust lol
