Press/fit connection

I have to replace the intake manifold bypass tube on my '02 F150 4.2L. It's pressed in there. I can get the old one out but I want to make sure I install the new one correctly. This job's been a pain and I don't want to have to do this job over again.

Is there a particular question about this job? Are you sure it's a press fit?

Yes, I've seen the new part and it's presses on. It also has what looks like black teflon tape on the manifold end. My concern is with the confined space to work with I want to do it right the first time and not have to redo it(who does, right?). Also, I've seen connections were you have to use a torch to heat one side up to get both ends connected, I hope this isn't that type of installation.

The black teflon tape material will be the joint sealer, but I doubt it's tape of any kind. My guess it's a type of epoxy and the pressure fit and engine temp help seal it. If Ford doesn't list this as available, you will have to try something from Locktite. Locktite makes products that should work for this since it is basically a gap filling hydraulic type seal, and you are working at fairly low temps. Without the manifold out, it will be a tough job.
