hay guys ,my last post was about not getting fuel.i fixed that .now my 86 f250 6.9 diesel. 4 sp 4x4.starts for about 2 second and stalls ,even feathering and playing with the pedal.what could be causing this? my only problem visible is a 3x1 inch hole on the exhaust manifold passenger side.would this cause stalling??im thinking a vacumm problem maybe?
well first off diesels don't require vacuum to run......second you need to crack the injector lines and spin (10 sec spin 2 min rest) to purge all the air out of the fuel system. once all of the injectors are spitting out fuel at the lines cinch them back down and try.....if problem still persist may possible have air intrusion...if thats the case there are two main areas of problematic air intrusion first place would be the fuel filter at firewall..second being the fuel return lines and injector orings......to check for that disconnect the feed line from the fuel tank and feed fuel directly from a bucket...if that doesnt work it may possibly be in the injectors or more likely injection pump.....
that should just about cover it i think.....let us know
thanks guys ,ya it starts rite back up but stalls again.so pretty much i have to bleed the injectors.or search for air getting in ,ok . just curious ,what are the vacumm lines for ,plus the vacumm pump? is this just for the brake booster and cruise control?
ok, so i think i targeted my problem .i went and checked my oil again after playing with it all day,and WOW my oil is waaaay overfilled .i suspect the fuel pump is leaking into my motor not good.this must be weir the air is coming from?and the pump looks wet probably diesel fuel also.so there is def need of a new one.i will get back to you guys
hay guys another question a little more off topic.will the diesel in the motor cause white smoke????? this is the only thing that is scaring me with this truck i dont want to do head gaskets.
Diesel should be in the motor, that what causes the combustion - sorry I just had to. I think you will see coolant in the oil and exhaust should smell sweet if the head gasket is blown.
