Hi everyone i am looking at getting a 2000 excursion limited v10 105k miles 4x4. The seller tells me the cruise does not work and he has replaced the clock spring. and still does not work. interior is is good shape and tires are60% and exterior doesnt seem to bad. he said he never saw more that 10mpg. i have been reading that few people are 12-14 mpg is this possible? if i add air intake exhaust and tuner will the mpg come up? The deal is pretty good on this and if it is possible to get 14 i will consider it. thanks

 

I had an 03 XLT V10 4X4 with 4.30 gears. The best i ever seen was 14 mpg. That was on a road trip. Average was 10mpg.

 

My 2001 V10 4x4 gets 13-15 highway-10 around town.

 

My Excursion does city driving 98% of the time.

I have never seen better than 8.3 mpg since the day I bought it.

 

I have the same EX and get 10.5. 4.30 gears kill the mpg.

 

I have the same vehicle. 10-city 14-highway.
I really have to watch, as my gas gauge doesn't work.

 

I have the same Ex. Winter back and forth to work 11, summer 12. Hwy mileage is about 13.5 at 65 mph. Towing is 7.5-8. Lots of power but if you want good gas mileage buy a Focus.

 

Take a look at the fuses real quick to see if you can remedy the cruise problem.

 

That's the truth. I knew I was looking at about 10 MPG when I bought it. Anything more than that is gravy.

 

If you can and are able to try to buy a diesel I have one and love it in the city al long as I don't floor it I get about 12 to 14 mile per on the hwy about 17 to 18 per the diesels are the best you can get about 300,000 plus with reg oil changes think about it I hope this helps

 

great trucks but dont expect great mpg. my personal licn plate says 8 MPG lol and its true haha
