I looked around briefly at programmers that are out there for my 2000 Excursion V10. There are a couple available, the one that caught my eye the most was the DiabloSport Predator. It looks to have the best claims in terms of mileage and hp gains, plus also allows you to go in and change settings to your own liking. I am wondering if anyone has put this or any other programmer on their V10 and what the results were? I'd like to be able to get a couple extra mpg out of this thing if possible.
You 'mite' get an extra mpg or 2 - but it's unlikely and if you do, it will never cover the cost of the programmer.
I had a SuperChips 1715 when I first got my X (had it from a f150 5.4), it made big improvements in the 5.4, but in the v10, it wasn't noticable. About the only benefit was changing the shift points/pressures. The only time i could really tell a difference was going don the interstate in OD - when I would hit a grade tht dropped out of OD, it would climb backup faster and go back in to OD sooner, often before cresting the hill.
I played with for a while trying the same setting as I did on my F150, then tried some additional tweaks - it just never seemed to make a difference - so I sold it to someone that had an F150.
