I know this is a truck forum but you guys have helped me with so much I figured i'ld turn to this forum. You guys know these motors better then I and this is the only plave i'ld turn to. Here is what I have, 1972 LTD 400M C6 a/c car. The car has no heat!! It does have a new heater core, fluid is full no leaks. None of the dummy lights are light. Motor it self does get to hot. The hoses get hot yet you can still touch them. I have a piece of cardboard in front of radiator. It has a large radiator. I am thinking the thermostat is stuck open. I know the 351/400M take a special T-stat. I have read about the various types. Does anyone know the part # for a Napa brand one? It seems like most people haven't had good luck with Autozone ect. I need one asap and the Robertshaw # 333-192 may take a few days to get to me. Thanks for any help. I did do a search and I wound up more confused about who makes the correct one.
Go to NAPA and select the oldest guy on the counter. Have him look up the number. All NAPA stores are not the same nor are all parts guys the same. Try going into the store at an "off time."
Thanks guys, I called my local store and talked to the guy there. He is really good about finding odd stuff. I told him it wasn't like a regular T-stat. He was curious as to how it was any different. I tried to explain but just told him I'd be in later after work to get it. I really hope it's the right one. I need to get this car running right. My truck is going in the shop Monday and it's going to get cold here. I wrote down the part #.
