I know that this was just on here not long ago and I have searched and looked but can't find. I know that there is a formula where you take engine hours divided by miles and get an average. What is it used for again and what is considered severe and normal. I have 11,159 miles and 334 hours for an average of 33.41.
Where would be the zerk fittings for the 4x4 front axle shaft u-joints be? Also are there any fittings for the steering linkage or front ball joints half and drive shafts. Or is all the above have sealed units and do not need lubrication.
I saw no fittings anywhere on the front end at all.
On the water/fuel seperator when you take out the 3 screws to clean it out does that take a gasket and does anyone have a part# and approx cost of one.
Thanks for the information and the time to read all of this!!

Hi Ed,
The zerks on the front axleshafts are right on the u-joints where the axle shaft leaves the knuckle and connects to the wheels. You're gonna want to unlock your hubs to do this, as you might have to rotate the shaft to get your grease gun in there. It also helps to turn the wheels full-lock left and right to do the left and right side respectively.

This isn't used for any official purpose, mainly for information on how the truck was run. With a speed average of 33.41 MPH you can deduce that you've either spent a lot of time idling or in low speed situations. Trucks run primarily on the highway with minimal idling see averages in the mid 40s to low 50s.
