I am the proud owner of a 6.4 King Ranch I love the truck and here is my latest MAJOR problem with my engine. The high pressure fuel pump developed a short inside of the O-ring. First why in the hell would you intergrate the wiring for such a critical component in a "gasket" that with the laws of physics could have the tendency to rub, get pinched, ect. It would be different if the fuel pump was accessable without having to pull the cab off the truck. My problems in the past have been @ 10,000 miles the frist motor cratered due to a high pressure fuel rail located under the valve cover developed a leak and flooded the crankcase resulting in the scorching of my #3 cylinder. I took my truck to Roswell Ford and they had my truck for 4 months to replace the engine. I was livid talked to Ford corporate and of course they were "very sorry for the inconvinince and they so graciously paid the 903$ truck payment for one of the four months. Now I spoke with the dealership here where I purchased the truck and they have 18 6.4 liters in the shop for service and I will find out in the morning how long they anticipate it will take for them to pull the cab to relplace the fuel pump. What avenues do I have when the dealership here says that it could be weeks before they can get to it because ford will only pay to have the truck towed 100 miles and I am not paying to tow a $60000 truck to get worked on...I believe that this is Fords responsiblity. I live in the State of New Mexico and they do have state LEMON LAWS in place. I would be happy with it taking a week at the most, not happy but I could deal with it much eaiser.. Any Ideas ANYONE?????????
sounds like you should talk to the state about the lemon law, does sound like you have a case, have ford buy this one back and then get a 09 and hopefullly it will be ok. Mine is a 08 Job 3 and all the kinks are worked out.

Not doubting your statements but this seems a bit far fetched....... 4 months to fix an engine? After the 4th day it would have found a new dealer if it were mine!
I had a dealer take 4 months to repair the engine on my E150 - when its warranty work the dealer isn't too hot to get it done quickly when there are other jobs they can work on. And when the engine is apart and sitting inside the cargo part of the truck there isn't much you can do.

It's very possible, parts are a long way out on these. If he needed a block or turbo or other major part you'd be weeks out. I can believe it no problem, ford's 6.4 is heading right down the 6.0 road. They need to get mercedes to build them a engine, I think that's the only way they can save their rep.
We had two 08s purchased back by ford (they took the entire truck back) due to fuel system issues. the 3rd truck that they repaired is having fueling issues again, note we fill over 100 other trucks from this same pump with NO issues.
I really hope for your sake that you have no problems "Major" so you can be blessed with not having to deal with FORD corporate. I can assure you that if I could have taken my truck to a shop that could get it done any faster than 4 months I would have. With all this said I believe that Ford will get the bugs worked out and it sucks that my truck has to be one of the thousands that has problems. My new engine runs great I have had no trouble with the truck until the fuel pump went out. I am in the process to bribe the service manager to put my truck in front of the 15 others. We will have to see how that works out because I haven't heard from him yet.
