Anyone know where can I find a 4x4 engage/toggle switch located on the dashboard. Mine seems to be the problem on my 88 Bronco. Any links or references is gladly welcome.
Until then u can also see my ride in Cardomain/Broncoboogieman
The Forum Sponsor should be able to help you out as well. Even if they don't list it in their online catalogue, they can usually come up with hard-to-find parts.
The Graveyard is the sponsor. I've called them on several hard-to-find electrical parts and they have dug them up for me. Not necessarily brand new (on some of them) but in very good condition.
started from the engagement motor at the transfer case and work my way up into the cabin...work it out to one of 2 options: the plug that connects to the computer by the passenger side, being 23yrs old, is kind of "toasted" and the connections aren't holding as they should; some of the wires where being pushed back cause of some plastic pins missing. had to epoxy them from behind into possition. after checking that they're holding and activating the solenoid on that little mother-board and everything engaging, i tried the switch on the console and it wasn't working. Took it out, cleaned it but still nothing. Friend of mine told me that the samething happened to his 92Bronco, though he know's I take more care of my baby, he thinks it just time and usage, plus it's an electric switch, eventually it would die.
so it's more a guess, but if it aint broken, looking at how hard it's to find one, if i find it i'll keep it anyways as a spare.
Why not do a continuity test on the switch itself before assuming its bad? The WHITE/BLUE wire is the common for the switch. When the 4HI button is depressed, there should be continuity between the WHITE/BLUE wire and the DK. BLUE wire. When the 4LO button is depressed there should be continuity between the WHITE/BLUE wire and the BROWN /WHITE wire. If you check this with the switch still connected to the harness, make certain the key is OFF. If you remove the switch to test it, just make certain you probe the terminals that correspond to the wires for the circuit you are testing.
I pulled mine out of my '91, I'm assuming it was good, just like the levershift better. Shoot me a price, add shipping costs. Lets make a deal My E-mail is enabled or you can post a message to me. I would sell you the whole trim panel if it's in good shape. Will check and take some pics for you.
Passengers side kick panel theres a processor board . Remove the plastic kick panel(pass side right foot) unplug your 2 wire harness turn your ignition on and theres a square white button (bottom edge of processor board . If the light flashes red its your actuator motor assembly, (shift motor) if it stays red (bright) its your processor board (what your looking at). Not saying your swicth is bad -this test is a good way to check processor board and shift motor -good luck TR

Just tested my switch, and according to your above test, my low range doesn't work. I went to alldata and verified the pin-out and tested the switch out of the truck. Low range still doesn't work.
(anyone have a switch tested good they want to sell?)
true that, and back the the original question: Anyone knows where can we get that switch?...links plz!!
I went (online) to NPD and LMC, and neither of 'em had that switch. I'm headed to a new jy tomorrow, and I'll see if I can pick one or two out of the pile. I'll let you know what I find.
If anyone has another source, please share it, ok?
