You know when you change gears on an automatic, the gear is pointed to on your dash? Well, that little line no longer points to the gear it is suppose to, it is stuck at the far end under 2!! No problems going into gear though, just have to count how many times over to get into the correct one.
I know I have to pull my dash apart, but how far to I have to go? Do I need to pull the stearing column apart too? Is the beyond the basic or a pretty simple job?
sounds like your indicator actuator is loose, pull the cluster and it should be on the right side of the steering column, mine is white, it has a string coming out of it, the string may be snagging on something or may just have broke.
the instrument cluster or panel. you might look up under the dash and see if you can see the piece on the side of the streering column, the little bolt may have just fallen out.....
fixed the problem--a plastic piece holds the spring onto the steering column. Ford only sells the whole thing, spring, plastic and indicator --about 22 bucks. Not bad considering. Just replaced the piece though, why bother with the rest.
