I load tested both battery's. 750 CCA. I installed new alternator (remanufactured) three days ago. Now my battery light is on. I'm afraid to shut off my truck for fear of it not starting again.
Any suggestions ?
The same thing happened to me and one of the batteries was bad even though it tested fine. Both of my batteries were newer as well. I changed the starter and alternator before I figured this out. This will sound weird, but try disconnecting one battery and see if the light goes off and you can start it. If the light still does not go off disconnect the other one and try the same thing. I ran with 1 battery for awhile because the bad battery was draining both batteries. Weird Huh?
So truck is sitting in brothers driveway with a 10 amp charger on it. Hoping in a few hours it will have enough juice to start and get me home which is about 20 miles of highway.
After I get home. I will be pulling alt and both batteries to have them all tested.
What should a good battery read when it's charged and truck is not running.
You don't really need to pull them out.. just drive to some place like AutoZone or OReileys.. and they can check them in the truck.. I just called them to verify..
Ya did that. Tested batteries at napa said they were not charging. Was asked to shut truck off and yes batteries were dead. And they did not have a jump box for me. So called in someon to come jump me. Truck started fine. Then half way across town I lost all power. All my gauges dropped off. No lights. Brake lights. No turn signals nothing.
How long will your truck run with zero electrical working?
I'm trading in my alternator for another reman this morning. I have charged both batteris all night.
