I have my days when I don't want to work on anything but today was not one of those. I replaced my (growling) turn signal relay, adjusted my headlights, pulled my IC pipes out and removed the foil and cleaned them up. Gave them a fresh coat of paint. When I put them back in I figured this was a good time to rest for leaks. I rigged up a air line. I set my regulator on 20psi. While flowing its closer to 12psi. I had a few leaks so I tightened the clamps. I could hear air blowing but had no leaks at any of the boots. I started feeling around for the air. I squirted some soapy water down by the front of the pass head. I could hear bubbling. So I moved the hoses. The air was coming out between the head and valve cover. I'm no expert by any means. I know very little about diesel motors. But this doesn't sound rite.
Ok. Thanks for the pic. Its kinda hard to see on my phone. If they get my internet fixed I can look at it on the computer. Am I looking for air coming by a valve? Or the injectors maybe?
Before you pull the valve cover, pull the central intake y-pipe that goes between the cylinder heads and pressurize the intake plenum right there to confirm your suspicions.
Loosen three clamps and it's out of there.
It might save you a bit of diagnosic work.
I just want to make sure that you are not being fooled by air coming out somewhere else and it's fooling you.
