this can't be rite???????

I have my days when I don't want to work on anything but today was not one of those. I replaced my (growling) turn signal relay, adjusted my headlights, pulled my IC pipes out and removed the foil and cleaned them up. Gave them a fresh coat of paint. When I put them back in I figured this was a good time to rest for leaks. I rigged up a air line. I set my regulator on 20psi. While flowing its closer to 12psi. I had a few leaks so I tightened the clamps. I could hear air blowing but had no leaks at any of the boots. I started feeling around for the air. I squirted some soapy water down by the front of the pass head. I could hear bubbling. So I moved the hoses. The air was coming out between the head and valve cover. I'm no expert by any means. I know very little about diesel motors. But this doesn't sound rite.

Not sure of the exact location you're trying to describe, but could it be coming from a leaking intake plenum? Maybe the RTV let go?

No it was coming from under the pass valve cover by the bolt at the front of the head. I snuged the bolt a little and it slowed down

I guess you could check the stem seals by pulling the VC and lookin' around. Maybe squirt a little oil on the stems and try to hear 'em sputter?

You need to pull the valve cover to pinpoint were the leak is coming from.

This is what you'll find under the valve cover. The injectors are the brown squarish thingys in the middle of the rockers.

Ok. Thanks for the pic. Its kinda hard to see on my phone. If they get my internet fixed I can look at it on the computer. Am I looking for air coming by a valve? Or the injectors maybe?

Before you pull the valve cover, pull the central intake y-pipe that goes between the cylinder heads and pressurize the intake plenum right there to confirm your suspicions.
Loosen three clamps and it's out of there.
It might save you a bit of diagnosic work.
I just want to make sure that you are not being fooled by air coming out somewhere else and it's fooling you.

I know it was coming from the valve cover. I tightened the bolt up and it slowed the air down

Are you talking about the valve cover bolt?
