A loose plenum bolt would probably allow a leak, and it might look like a "valve cover" leak to someone who isn't completely familiar with the 7.3.
It's sheet metal, it's bolted to the head, looks like a valve cover......

This jogged my memory. Now I remember about that thread I couldn't find. Someone posted about this very thing. He had removed a plenum bolt to get to the driver side fuel rail plug and forgot to put it back in and it caused a boost leak.
It never got up to 20. It mite have made 10 to 12psi. Will that hurt?
Depends on who you ask. ErnieGene is absolutely convinced the 1 psi he "claims" my CCV is flowing back into the crank case is going to blow some seals. I fully dispute that the exhaust is flowing back mostly based on the sheer amount of oil seeping through the length of the hose, but I digress...
I think you'll be fine. Orings hold much, much more pressure than that, and the valve cover gasket seems like it'd pass air without ruining the sealing ability in the non pressurized application.
