Ok, so started working on my 60 today. Its out of an 1993 F-350. Well all went well on taking the drivers side apart. BUT the passangers side locking hub is totally stuck in. Totally rotted and corroded. So i tried to soak it...tried just about everything. Then i took out the air chissel. That didnt do much. So i grabbed the torches and started melting. Yea that didnt last long. Didnt work. Ive herd my F250 stuff will bolt up. So this being said. Can i torch the spindle (Not sure if they are called spindles but where my calipers bolt to) off right up next to the ball joints? If herd i can swap my brake system over. Anyone have pics or even get what im saying? Im not sure if im even making sence. Ill still need to cut the hub apart to get the spindle nut off for the manual locking hubs.
Hey Kris I just finished my d60 a couple weeks ago and if I remember right the knuckles looked different to me. Could be wrong. I know those thinks are a pita to get apart but you can get it. Although I dnt know if you made it worse by heating things up. Just curious is your problem getting the locking hubs out or the spindle that the hubs go onto. The one that is attached with 5 nuts to the knuckle? If it makes it easier you can give me a call and maybe I can help. 978-502-4335.
Yea the issue is getting the locking hub out..And i totally screwed myself by torching it lol. It was totally fused into the hub. Someone told me that the knuckles are the same...They say you can change them so i can bolt my caliper on instead of using the clips.
I've read that the D50 knuckles are interchangeable, and I've read that they are not. When I did my D60 swap, I could not tell the difference looking at both knuckles, but went with the slide pins that came with the 94 axle I was putting in my 97. The spindles are very similar, but the there was a post on TheDieselStop that showed a D50 next to a D60 spindle and the part the slips into the knuckle was slightly shallower on the D50. Do a search over the TDS, you may need to get into archived posts as it's been a few years, but you may be able find more info...
Everyones telling me how you can change it to bolt my brakes on instead of using the slide pins..So that means the kunckle. Im going to read more. I really hope i can use my 50 calipers, my 60s are junkkk
