Can you all tell me what brand is best? Cheapest, and most complete kit. I know these three things don't go hand in hand very often but..... I am already looking at about 2000 dollars just to fix all my oil leaks and a couple upgrades while the motors out. I can't afford much more.
I'm about to send off a set of injectors for stage 1 rebuild, new super duty hpop is going on. replacing oil pan, front cover and nearly every gasket and seal on it. Also finally got an egt gauge on order. This stuff adds up fast.
I want to put it back in with an intercooler because we tow hard with ours and I don't want to be burning pistons. I really don't want to rig up anything either. I want a kit.
You can buy the Banks intercooler kit for obs, the Hypermax kit for obs, and I believe ATS makes one for the obs. They run $1300-$1400. Lot's of guys run the Banks intercooler pipe kit ($450sh) with either a factory 7.3 or 6.0 intercooler. You can usually find good used intercoolers for $100-200. Using the Banks pipe kit with a 6.0 intercooler works well.
If you want to spend a little more, and upgrade your turbo at the same time, you could get a mount kit from Carson Stauffer Diesel, and buy a used H2E. Carson's kits are $1300-1400 and you can find a used H2E for around $500. There were a couple for sale on PSN recently.
I'm a little nervous about upgrading the turbo because we pull so much. My weight just with the camper is near 12,0000. The horse trailer puts me 16,000 more. I watched EGT's on one just like mine but without the intercooler not too long ago and it scared me. She had all the injector and oil upgrades I want to do already. I got my price up to nearly 4000 now without even getting the intercooler so far. That's just getting the injectors rebuilt, tuner, gauge, seals and gaskets and a injector sleeve kit. I might have to wait on the intercooler and be easy on it for a while.
Sorry, but there is absolutely no way you're going to be able to put down any extra power without EGT issues. You can't take it easy while upping your power output. That's like spending your way to savings. If you really want to run hard at 12Klbs with a camper, there's no point in wasting your money on a chip and injectors without a good IC. It's not hard to push 1200 with a stock truck, you'll see this yourself if you get some guages.
That's what surprises me about my F250. YOu wouldn't believe the size of the 5th wheel that thing used to pull. The pistons are perfect though with a little over 200k on it. Just amazing. It had a chip but that was it. Maybe these pistons are tougher than people think but I don[t want to risk it. I might just have to nurse it along till I have everything I need in hand to do it right.

RRanch, what kind of EGT temp did you run pulling the 5er? I pull a 7000lb bumper pull and can get to 1200 on flat land.
That truck I got in the for sale section now I got up to 1200 without a load when I was ragging on it after doing the injector seals. Just flooring it up a half mile long hill. It's got an intercooler, 4 inch exhaust and everything. They will do it I know. That was when it had a banks chip in it too though. It's got a custom from DP tuner now. I doubt it would get that high now.
I can hit 1300 in 3rd gear if i get on it.
Of course, your driving from the tailgate at that point too.
Then when I get back up to the Wheel to press down the clutch to go into 4th gear, then the 15 runs outa oil and I get a CEL. haha
I can hit about 1400-1500 when I run outa oil for the injectors.
Poor ole 15. =(
I know you want a kit RRranch, but you can save a lot of money doing it yourself and there's not much to it. Wish I was closer to you, I'd love to give you an extra pair of hands. I've got about 400 bucks in mine, that is so much better than 1200+. You really won't be able to work it very hard without one with stage ones and chip. Kits are nice for sure but I just couldn't see spending that much.

The right turbo will help, not hurt, your egt's. I'm still bolting my parts on, so I can't speak from personal experiance (yet), but I'm pretty much copying Caryt aka OBSWIZ's set-up. He says he tows heavy with no issues. The only thing that slows him down are the road conditions and the police. But these upgrades do get expensive!
If you want to knock the price down a little more, you could gather what you need to build your own set-up. Or better yet, keep an eye on the classifieds on the truck forums and buy someones old setup when they upgrade.
I have a thing about used parts normally though. We haven't broke down on the road in a long time and I need to keep it that way. I guess I can look around at those used intercoolers. Can't hurt.
I don't know what the egt's got to on the 250. I never had a gauge on it. I just know the last owner pulled a 40 foot 3 axle 5th wheel up to arizona and Colorado a LOT. That's a lot of mountains. That trailer was so heavy that my farmall would not even lift the front end of it. I could lift a 3000 pound plow though. My new tractor would get it but then my front tires would be off the ground and I couldn't steer.
If your turbo is ok I wouldn't mess with that for now. It will be fine with the combo you are doing (like mine). A different turbo isn't going to make enough difference on egt's to notice. I think mine is a great towing combination, and yours will be even better with the 4.10's.
