Truck Guns?

I know a lot of us "big truck" guys, especially those of us that live in the country, are also gun guys. TX allows any citizen who can lawfully own a firearm to carry one in their vehicle, concealed. I'm jealous of those who live in open carry states... but that's not the point of this thread . Concealed does not mean "hidden"... it means that a person outside your vehicle should not be aware that you have a firearm inside your vehicle. I'm not looking for a debate on carrying in the truck... but if you do, what do you carry? Where do you carry it? Is it a "truck gun" that stays there, or is it your normal carry sidearm?

FWIW, I am a law-abiding citizen who has no intent to circumvent any laws or to resist law enforcement. I support our men in blue and if ever stopped (haven't been in about 7 or 8 years), I will happily relinquish control of my firearm to the LEO for the duration of the stop. I carry for personal protection, nothing more. Again, not looking for a debate, just assuaging any potential rumors that I am starting a militia

back to the point - what is your truck gun?

For some, carrying a weapon is a secret not to be shared. Just my 2 cents.

An interesting topic and one that in some forums would cause a lot of emotional response. I happen to live in one of those states that will only allow unconcealed loaded weapons in the vehicle. I can drive with my Sig on the dash, the seat or taped to my forehead. The moment I put it in the console, I am guilty of carrying a concealed weapon. A logic I never understood since a weapon on the sitting on the seat next to me, IMHO, is worse that one in the glovebox. Since I am not in law enforcement, it would be good to hear their point of view.

I should add... that because of the way the law is written, I carry nothing. Unless, I am on the way to the range or going hunting.

Interesting - can you divulge which state you're in? Those laws seem kinda backwards.

@BigZ - I do understand that not everyone wants to advertise that they are carrying... but this is an internet forum, so there is a level of anonymity involved. At least, there CAN be if you want there to be. By all means though, do not divulge anything you do not want to. I'm only asking those who do want to share

I guess I posted this here mainly for ideas about what sort of gun is fitting comfortably in which compartment(s) in our trucks. When I do carry in the truck, I usually carry my Beretta PX4 Storm in a small range bag. That pistol is also my home defense weapon, so it gets carted back and forth a lot... rather is *doesn't* get carted back and forth as much as I'd like. I am in the market for a "truck gun" that stays in the truck. Probably a revolver, probably cheap. Just wondering how people are storing theirs.

Great topic - I carry a Kahr P45 in a inside the pants front rig - this is my normal carry gun and rides with me whenever it is legal to do so. This set-up allows me to get in and out of the truck without having to move my rig and still use my seatbelt while driving. I am a firm believer that the 45ACP is the round for defense and am willing to carry a slighly heavier gun to have that option. As a side note, my wife's Ruger LCP is also perfect in this carry location since it is an even smaller package and does not pattern at all. Just my $.03

CHL holder carrying a Glock 26 with 15 round mags. Its carried in several types of holsters depending on attire and resides in the compartment beside my right leg when I get into the truck.

This past weekend it was a Saiga AK, Ruger 9mm (P89DC), and an old Winchester lever action .22. Unfortunately they're not normal passengers in the truck, was heading up north with some friends. I don't have anything small enough to comfortably wear or keep in the truck.....yet.

it kinda depends on what I am doing if I am heading out somewhere ie not just driving around town. it could be a ruger 22-250 or CZ 527, I used to carry a tikka 243 everywhere I went, but have since sold that gun to fund another project. cabels has a gun rack that mounts on the under side of the roof and holds two guns up by the headliner. I have always wanted one to carry a cheap rifle in. if I am going to keep a rifle in the truck its going to be a cheap one. a stevens 200 is an inexpensive gun that would make a great truck gun.

as for pistols I normally have an LCP on me and I used to carry a CZ 75 9mm everywhere in the truck, but I had some custom work done on it and I like it too much to risk getting it ripped off.

A Glock 21 is the quintessential truck gun- affordable, ultra reliable, high capacity, powerful and super easy to use.

S&W M&P 9mm Compact, more comfy and compact than a Glock. If I were an LEO I may even carry the full size version of this instead of the Glock (gasp, I know, what a rebel).
